Speaker: Jonathan Lee- Pastor & Worship Pastor- Cedar Rapids First Assembly- Cedar Rapids, Iowa- United States

Jonathan Lee is a husband, father, pastor, worship leader and songwriter.
But when asked to describe who he is, he answers, “matchmaker.”

“I was created to worship, and to lead others in worship,” he says. “I like to think of myself as a matchmaker between God and man. I want more than anything for people to have a true revelation of who God is because when people truly see Jesus, it changes them forever. That is truly what I am called to do.”

These are matches made in heaven, to be sure, and ones that Lee feels confident his gift of music and leading in worship help make. “People many times have told me that my music helps them see Jesus,” he describes. “There is nothing better than that to me. I do not want people to see me. I want them to see Jesus.”

Lee’s focus on making Jesus famous has attracted many talented artists to record songs he’s written. These artists include the Newsboys, Laura Story, Phillips, Craig & Dean, Jeff Deyo, Aaron Shust, Tricia Brock, Rebecca St. James, For King & Country, Selah, Acquire The Fire and others. Three of those songs have been nominated for four Dove Awards (Worship Song of the Year for The number 1 hit song “When The Stars Burn Down” by Travis Cottrell and Phillips, Craig & Dean, Inspirational Song of the year for ‘More And More Of You’ by Selah, Song of the Year and Pop Song of the Year for the hit song “Proof Of Your Love” by For King And Country.

While Lee tapped into a winning formula as a songwriter, he wasn’t content. The father of three transitioned from the road to pastoring at Cedar Rapids First Assembly in Cedar Rapids, IA as their Creative Arts Pastor. “I have always wanted to do more than just music,” he says. “I want to leave a legacy that leads people to Jesus, and pastoring helps me grow and helps others grow around me in my community. I love it.

Jonathan just finished recording a live album with Oak Tree Studios. It was a powerful night of worship, and I am so excited for people to share in those moments with us.”

The album released March 17, 2017, and features new powerful worship songs that share Jonathan’s journey.

The songs, co-written by notables Benji Cowart, Chad Cates, Jennie Lee Riddle, Richie Fike, David Leonard, Matt Armstrong, BJ Putnam, Doug Inquist, Dustin Smith, Garner McGregor, and Josh Hollis, bring the worshipper back to the basics as a follower of Christ. Songs like “I Know You’ve Overcome It All”, and “The Lord Will Provide” serve as a modern-day reminders that God still heals and provides for us. “These songs hit me at my core and challenge my faith and remind me that God is who He says He is,” Lee says. “All I Want Is Jesus” is a cry from the heart of someone who seeks nothing but Him. “These songs are where I am at right now, and I hope they speak into the lives of the people who listen.”

If the track record is any indication, Lee’s music will continue to match the hearts of men and women to the heart of a loving Savior.
